Chapter 25

Alessa made it a point not to show up at Camelot at 6:30 on the dot. She was officially protesting. So when she declined Kyle’s fifth phone call at 7:15, she was proud of herself. So proud, she decided to treat herself to a pancake breakfast the cooks had made.

As she ate her first bit of the delicious cinnamon stack pancakes, someone grabbed her arm to stop her from eating more.

“Breakfast time is over. Work now! I’ve already waited almost an hour chasing you down!” Kyle barked.

“I never agreed—“

“Are you coming or am I forcing you?” He cut her off. Angry.

“Forcing me? How are you going to—“

Again he did not let her finish. He put one of his hands under Alessa's legs and another on their back and scooped her up.

“Like this!” Alessa wiggled her feet but Kyle was unaffected. He began walking out of the kitchen, and none of the staff stopped him. They just giggled

“Put me down!” Alessa yelled.

“Nope,” Kyle looked straight ahead, his face confronted into a smile.

“I won’t do any work!
