Chapter Twenty six

The days that went by were passably tolerable. Mrs. Fisher did not intrude on her privacy again, and Weruche enjoyed the longest time she had ever had for leisure -- then out of the blue, she got a visitor.

She had been dancing alone to Johnny Drille's 'count on you' when the doorbell rang, already feeling at home in Karis's house, she opened the door. What she saw in front of her left her speechless and shaking with fright.

The little man who stood in front of the door gently pushed it further open, and stepped inside. His eyes scanned the living room quickly, then went over her at a more leisurely pace, takin in her sleep - tousled hair, Karis's shirt that she was wearing, and her very brief shorts. 'Hello Weruche.'

It had only been two words, words that could be mistaken as a greeting by any other person, but not Weruche. She read through to the lewd suggestiveness packed in those two words -- and to the threat.

She had forgotten his name, but she could well remember him as one of
