Chapter 029

Christina’s POV

After Scott’s little show outside, the rest of the party went on without a hitch, as he took time socializing with some of his business partners who were in attendance, while also making contacts with new ones that were down for a business partnership. He was also able to find time to introduce me to more people as his fiancee, not minding his uncle’s earliest remarks. For the rest of the evening, when I wasn’t hanging on his arm like an arm candy and smiling at whoever showed up our way, I was with Aunt Eunice, or all by myself, trying to fit into their inner circle, without calling much attention to myself in the process. But that was a slightly difficult task as the moment he introduced me as his wife-to-be, quite several people became interested in our relationship, and in getting to know more about me.

In all of this time, I never caught sight of Marvin again, and I couldn’t stop wondering if he’d heard our little exchange of words and was hurt that his brother wo
