Mia’s POV

Just as I had expected, everyone was elegantly dressed. Even though Jenny said she didn’t invite many people to their anniversary, there were probably up to a hundred people in this ballroom. My feet were starting to ache in these heels even though I had only worn them for an hour. I badly wanted to place my butt on a chair and relax while sipping my wine. Jenny had separated me from Allen earlier and she had been introducing me to her friends. They were friendly and nice people just like her, but I was tired of standing in their midst and giving them fake cute smiles whenever they asked me something about Allen and I.

“So, do you have any plans of going back to school?” Jenny asked me, I was pretty sure Allen already told her ‘the story of my life’.

“Umm, I haven’t really thought about that yet.” I answered her. She and her friends nodded their heads slowly as they watched me.

“You are not working presently, right?” One of Jenny’s friends, named Georgia, asked me.

“Sorry?”
