Chapter 31

Point of View (POV): Monte

One month swiftly passed. There's still no news about the case they filed against Khaye Dominguez, the person who kidnapped and almost killed his wife. Ericka has also become elusive to him. It seems she's afraid to be close to his skin. Yet, she remains attentive. Every day, his things are prepared. She straightens his necktie, stealing a kiss while he sleeps. He convinces himself that she must be traumatized by what Khaye did.

This morning, he no longer wakes up to his wife by his side. It's Saturday again. Like before, she rises early. She assists in the kitchen, preparing most of their meals at home.

His clothes and towel are ready for his shower. The bathroom is spotless. This is another thing he appreciates about Ericka, cleanliness at home.

It's only five in the morning. After his shower, he folded the dirty clothes and placed them in the basket. Ericka likes to organize the laundry to make it easier for Leona to choose what to wash.
