Chapter 47: Let You Go

KEILAH

"Enzo," I followed after him as he went inside the house.

I was holding onto his wrist, but he continued walking away.

I was fresh out of the water, so I was still shivering. Enzo left as soon as Miles implied that he didn't love me, and although Miles' words hit me like a truck, I wanted to hear an explanation of why Enzo let go of me in a heartbeat.

"Enzo," I repeated. "I'm getting tired."

I sighed in relief when he finally stopped.

"Thank you."

"Sorry," he muttered under his breath.

"I'm not mad," I reassured him.

"I know," he said. "I'm mad at myself. I shouldn't have let you go."

"Then, why did you?" I couldn't help but ask.

"My body moved before I could control it," he said. "And I know that it's not an excuse, but I've always known that Mandy can't swim. I've saved her before, and I guess that instinct never went away."

I pursed my lips together. I trust him a lot; I really do. So, I believe every word that he said.
