Chapter 24

Avery had no choice but to bite the bullet and get into the passenger seat.

Behind her, the noises continued, but the driver acted like he couldn't hear anything. He simply focused on the road. Avery thought about giving him a huge thumbs-up.

When she looked up, she inadvertently looked in the rearview mirror. Her eyes met with the dark gaze of the man in the back seat.

Feeling guilty, she quickly shifted her eyes to look out the window.

After ten minutes, she arrived at her destination. After paying the fare, she hopped off the cab as though she were fleeing from something and ran into the restaurant without looking back.

She didn't notice that a man's eyes were following her.

When Avery arrived, Summer was cutting into a cake while surrounded by a huge group of people.

Summer only noticed Avery when she was nearly done distributing the cake. She gave Avery her own slice and said, "Avery, you can have my piece."

As soon as she said that, everyone's gazes fell on Avery.
