All night, he sat up thinking.

Liam realized that sneaking back into his father's Pack was the only way to gather the evidence he needed to bring peace between the werewolves and the Lycans. But he also knew that if he was caught, his father would stop at nothing to punish him for his betrayal.

The memories of his father's torture flooded his mind, and he shuddered at the thought of going back to that place of pain and misery. He remembered the cold, damp cell where he was chained to the wall, unable to move or even stand up. His father would visit him every day, taunting him and reminding him of his worthlessness.

The beatings were the worst. His father, with the help of his guards, would use anything at his disposal – his fists, a whip, rods, even a stick – to make him scream in agony.
