Freya's father confirmed that she was a witch. She had to flee for her dear life during the purge. He said she refused to divulge where she would be heading because she knew if she told him, he would come with her.

"She wanted our baby to be safe. She decided to leave her with me. I came back home one day and she was gone. She left a letter and a book beside Freya's cot."

Gabriel leaned backwards on his chair. "I heard a lot of witches were killed during the purge but Moonstone was one of the places that gave witches the liberty to take their leave before things turned out worse."

"What did the letter say? And what book was that?"

"It was about how sorry she was about how she had to leave me with our little child. The book was to be given to Freya when she was old enough to choose on her own if she wanted to be like her mother. Her mother wanted her to know her identity but I was against it because this land would never welcome witches back."
