I lit up the bunch of sage, moving from corner to corner. I wanted to get rid of the bad omens which seemed to be surrounding us.

“Please, Mother, help me find the answers I need,” I said, making a quick cross.

While I sat down on the floor, I took another deep breath. I could feel the pressure lifting from my chest, a sign that the Gods were here with me, guiding me every step to find the answers I was desperately looking for.

After I untied the corners of the red silk handkerchief carefully, I placed the Tarot cards on the table, blessing them. A long time had passed since I looked for answers in them.

It was baffling how I lived all my life in a wagon traveling around the world, using nature's signs for guidance, but now, while I was getting closer to my final breath, everything was changing. Sabine was the reason for that change and we all knew it.

From the moment she was brought to us, everyone knew that we had one sole purpose: to protect her.
