Out in the Desert (2)

“AHHHH!” Both of them scream and make a run for it. The worm is at least fifty feet high and very thick. It lets out a high pitched cry which nearly bleeds Lavi and Thena’s ears but they do not stop running.

The giant worm slams itself on the ground, missing Lavi by inches. It has a foul stench of rotten eggs and swamp, nearly making Lavi sick. Thena manages to detect him and pulls him out of safety but the worm is slithering behind them at an incredibly fast pace.

“Lavi, get on my back!” Thena shouts. “It may be big but I can run faster! Just guide me, okay?”

Lavi does not waste time and hops on Thena’s back. “Go right!” he orders.

Thena makes a turn to the right, running at incredible speed. Thanks to her hybrid nature, she can run faster than average Lycans and she is using her senses to find her way. The worm is still on their tail, its foul smell filling up their nostrils. Thena tries to ward off the smell and focuses on finding a way out of this mess.
