Out in the Desert (4)

“Hic!”

Anna lets out an inadvertent hiccup. Lavi pours water in a glass and offers it to her.

“Here you go,” he says and puts the glass in her hands. “You can rest. I will stay up all night and-”

Anna puts the glass away and gently touches his shoulder. To Lavi’s surprise, she pushes him on the bed and lies beside him.

“What the hell are you doing?” He frowns.

“This is better,” she murmurs. “You need rest and so do I. It is best if we rest together on this bed.”

Lavi can see her face turning red in embarrassment. Anna is suddenly feeling very shy and fidgets a little. The bed is quite small; so small that their bodies are in close proximity.

He cannot help but gaze at her affectionately. Unlike her usual fiery self, she is more self aware and shy as if she is also feeling the same as him. Her dark hair is slightly falling on her face and she tries to shake it off.

To Anna’s surprise, Lavi’s warm fingers brush her hair away and place them behind her ear.
