Jo POV
I look at the papers resting on my coffee table, and I take a deep breath. I try to focus on my computer, but my eyes keep moving to the papers. I put the laptop on the couch and I stand up, grabbing the papers and putting them in the kitchen. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
I walk back to the couch, looking at the computer, but my mind keeps flying back to those papers. I close the laptop and walk into the kitchen, looking at them one more time. I haven’t told Dylan about this, and I think I am afraid to.
He doesn’t know about my fertility uses. What if that’s a nod deal for him? I grab the papers and put them in the trash can, closing my eyes. I rest both my hands on the counter. My phone rings and I take a deep breath, walking back to the couch to see Dylan’s name flashing.
Is he some sort of mind reader? “Hello?” I say as I answer the phone. My heart beats faster and faster at the anticipation of hearing hi
Jo POV“Good morning, beautiful,” Dylan says as he pulls me into his arms. I smile against his chest as he draws circles on my bare back. Slowly, I open my eyes looking at him and he looks beautiful. The sun shining through the curtains, making his skin look delicious and gold.“Take a picture, it will last longer,” he says and I smile, placing a soft kiss on his chest. Dylan wraps his arms tighter around my body and I moan as he pulls me into a kiss. I love waking up like this. I can feel his morning glory against my leg.“Are you ready for our morning round?” He asks as his hands move down to my ass, pulling me to straddle him. I shake my head, pulling away from him and he frowns, watching me as I stand up.“You need to go get ready for the testing,” I say and he covers his eyes with his arm and groans loudly.I wrap my robe around my body as Dylan sits on the edge of my bed and stretches his arms a
Dylan POVJo grips my hand as I offer it to her to help her get out of the car. I booked the reservation to one of the most upcoming restaurants in Manhattan. The sooner the press sees us together and photographs us together, the sooner we will be alone without people taking pictures constantly.“Dylan, who’s the woman with you?”“Dylan, what’s her name?”“Is this the woman that got between you and Savannah?” I hear the question, and I feel Jo stiffen next to me. I smile at the photographer as I hold her close to my body, resting my arm on her lower back as she smiles. We are almost blinded by the flashing lights. The questions keep being shouted as we walk into the restaurant and the hostess that recognizes me straight away greeted us. She looks at Jo with a fake smile and then locks eyes with me. I take a deep breath, tightening my grip around Jo’s waist as I guide us through the restaurant in
Jo POVMy phone is ringing next to me, but I am so tired that I try to find it next to me on the bed with my eyes still closed. I tap the mattress and I find it. I open one eye looking for the green button on the screen and I answer just in time before it stops ringing.“Hello?” I answer.“Hey, sorry, did I wake you up?” I hear Layla’s voice on the other side. I open my eyes, and sit up straight away on the bed, rubbing my eyes.“No, no, I am awake. What’s up? Is everything okay?” I ask, looking around the room. I am in Dylan’s hotel room and there’s not a single clock around the room to tell me what time it is. I turn on the bed, grabbing his wrist as he protests, looking at the time.“Liar,” she says with a giggle, and I smile as I move on the bed, placing my feet on the floor and raising my free arm above my head as I stretch.“Yeah, yeah, okay, why are you call
Dylan POV I smile as I hear her closing the bathroom door. She still has some secrets from me, but it’s okay. I will give her some time to work through that. She will trust me completely eventually and I can wait. I know she is hiding something big from me and that’s why she wanted to play the two truths and one lie on our first date. She was trying to find a way of telling me something. I can wait. I roll around on the bed, resting now on my back with my arm hanging over my eyes, covering them as I smile, remembering last night. I fucked Jo on every surface of this room. And I can’t wait for my house to be ready so I can do the same there. My phone pings and I grab it as I raise it in front of my eyes and I see that is an email from their DNA clinic. I sit up straight, putting my feet on the floor while my hands shake slightly. I open it and start reading the report. Most of what it says there I can’t understand. It’s three pages and I can feel my heart beat
Dylan POVWhen the taxi stops in front of my parent’s house, I open the door and stand in front of the gates, looking inside. As if I got hit with a ton of bricks, I remember the conversation my mother was having with Layla at the ball. The divorce. My father asked my mother for the divorce, so he knows the baby is his.I open the gate with the code I have and saunter up the drive toward the double doors of the house. One of them opens and my mom walks out frowning as she watches me walk up the steps. “What are you doing here? I was just about to go to a meeting,” my mom announces, and I nod. I kiss her on the cheek before I walk past her into the house.“What are you doing here?” She asks again, and I turn to face her. Her eyes meet mine. “What is going on with the divorce?” I ask and my mom takes a deep breath and adjusts her skirt as she’s got taken by surprise by my question.“Why do you ask? I am
Jo POV“You trusted him before me. You went to my brother when you should’ve come to me? This is about my life and you went to him?” Dylan says as he gets his clothes from the floor and starts putting them on.“Dylan, please, you need to understand. I didn’t know what to do,” I say, but all he does is shake his head while he continues to get dressed. He is not even looking at me.“I was with you, just after he left you, and you hid it from me. You chose to keep me in the dark.” He shouts at me and I jump. He never spoke to me like that, ever. I watch as he sits, putting his shoes on. I walk to him and kneel in front of him, touching his leg, but he doesn’t look at me. I open my mouth to speak but close it straight after because it doesn’t matter what I say now. He feels betrayed and I understand that.Dylan grabs his keys and walks out of the room, leaving me on my knees near the bed as I watch h
Jo POV“Jo, I need you to know I am sorry for how I reacted earlier. I just, it was too much…” he says and I nod as I spin around to look at him and he is looking down at his shoes. I walk to him, placing both my hands on his face, forcing him to look at me. When his eyes meet mine, everything I thought earlier disappears and I realize I can’t live without this man anymore.“I love you Dylan Ashford, and I will be by your side until the day you decide you’ve had enough of me, I will help you through the storm that is brewing, but I will need you to stop walking away and let me in,” I say and he nods.“Thank you,” he says as he pulls me into his arms, wrapping them around my back, keeping me pressed against his body. I can feel his heart beating fast against his chest. Dylan kisses me deeply as I melt against him as he pulls me to his bed in the middle of the room.I fall on my back with him on top of
Dylan POV As we walk down the stairs, I can feel Jo feel a lot more relaxed than before. We walk through the lobby to the sitting area where my mom is drinking some tea and reading a pile of papers. She raises her head, watching us. She takes her glasses off, places them neatly over the pile of papers, and smiles. “Mom, this is Jo, my girlfriend,” I say and my mom smiles, looking at Jo. Jo looks at me nervously as my mom offers her hand to shake. Jo lets go of my hand, shaking it. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, dear,” Mom says, and Jo smiles. “The pleasure is mine. You have a beautiful house,” she says and my mom beams at Jo. I pull Jo to sit next to me on the couch while my mom rings her obnoxious bell and the maid walks into the room almost instantly. I wonder if she is just standing around waiting for my mom to ring the damn thing. “Bring us some more tea please,” my mom says, and the maid nods, taking away the lukewarm tea.
