Chapter 59

T-they…are dead?

My heart started to beat erratically, a pounding in my chest that felt as if it was threatening to burst forth. I couldn't seem to get my lungs to function properly anymore; the air felt thick and heavy, and no matter how hard I tried I could not seem to take a full breath of much needed oxygen. It was like I had been submerged underwater and every passing second became more difficult to survive. The panic rising within me only added on top.

I quickly glanced at Adolf, who appeared almost hopeless as he stared at Gigantor, the one responsible for this entire situation. We had both seen so much suffering and pain in this journey and it seemed to be endless. When will our troubles finally come to an end? All of us had been living in fear and sadness for far too long. It felt like we were stuck in quicksand, with each step sinking us further down into despair.
