The night breeze was chilly and soothing, just what I needed to clear my messed-up head. Walking around the poolside, I counted my steps, as each one of them came with frightening thoughts.

Thoughts of father dying. Thoughts of my coronation. Thoughts of Luther coming for me and my mother. Thoughts of losing all my loved ones to his cruel hands.

These thoughts had me bothered and sleepless for days now. It'd been four days since Father told me everything. Just a week and a few days left before my Alpha coronation. Not enough time to navigate and comprehend everything happening in my life.

I was slowly dying from the pressure. It was worse because I had no one to talk to about it. Arlo wasn't here. I wished he was. His firm, muscular hands wrapping me up in a tight embrace would have been a great deal of help.
