Pains and regret

MESSIAH JORDY'S POV

Mother broke into a sob for the umpteenth time, but quickly dabbed at her tears.

"I'm sorry," her voice was croaky from how much she'd been silently crying.

I was too broken to comfort her. Neither did I blame her for her emotional slips. I might not be sobbing like she was, but I was still a tad away from breaking down into tears.

Father had a seizure. A more severe one than the last. We already invited a modern doctor of the neighboring Pack to attend to him.

They've been locked in Father's chambers all morning. Mother and I insisted on sticking around but we got shooed away.

Probably because Mother was crying too much and the doctor found it distracting. We tried to get her to quiet down but when we couldn't, the doctor asked us to excuse them.

Being out here didn't make her cry any less. Nah, on the contrary, it triggered more tears from her eyes and made her grow more restless.

"Do you think he's alright, Jordy?" She turned to me in tears.
