Chapter Forty-One (Isla)

I sat facing him. “If you wanted to make amends, why not let me go?”

“I can’t, not until I can prove to the Elders you are not a threat.” Well, at least he’s being honest, I guess.

Frowning, I replied, "There are people I need to find, and I can’t do that as a prisoner, can I?" It was frustrating there was a job I had to do, and he was preventing it.

“Who do you want to find? I can help you after we get things here straightened out.” he asked as he moved closer rubbing my leg with his hand.

“I won’t say, just people. I can’t just sit up here all the time. It’s boring and there are things I need to be doing.”

“You won’t tell me who you have to find and what you have to do, but you want me to let you go? I don’t think so, besides we are supposed to be together isn’t that what our wolves have been trying to hammer into our heads with these nightmares?”

“That’s only part of it. Did you not notice that anytime we were together, we both met our deaths merely weeks later? We don’t get
