A week had passed since Jason dropped me home, and thankfully, true to his word, he hadn’t tried to contact me again. The week went surprisingly smoothly. I had very limited interactions with Archer, didn’t cross paths with Aurora even once, and the kids were surprisingly well-behaved.

But I knew my streak of serenity wasn’t going to last long. Today was Archer’s birthday, and I had to attend the party held in his honour. My mother-in-law had extended a special invitation to me, and knowing Archer would want his kids there, I didn’t really have much of a choice.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the sprawling gardens of the Lancaster Mansion, the estate came alive with the lavish decorations that were done.
