Chapter 4

He was walking towards the table he had hit and was unrolling something. It looked like a massive roll of fabric.

"Mack, what the hell is going on? Who is this guy?" I asked, indicating that I was talking about Liam.

"SHUT UP!" Liam shouted once more. This guy has a serious temper.

"Liam, she knows nothing. Leave her out of this." Mack said furiously.

Know what? What is he talking about?

He grabbed a throwing knife and walked over to me. It reminded me of the knives that they used in the first Divergent movie. And at that thought, I squirmed a little.

"Mack was it?" Liam said, trying to provoke more anger in Mack. Which it's working, "Answer my questions and she doesn't get hurt. Got it?"

"Liam I can't, you know that. I swore an oath to her parents."

"Shame," Liam said. He bent down to my level and gave me a smirk. I felt the coldness of the knife slowly cut into my left arm. I bit the inside of my cheek and could feel tears attempting to leave my eyes. He stopped when my breathing became faster. When I looked at the cut it seemed deep. I glanced down at my arm and noticed how Liam managed to miss any arteries that could be fatal.

Images of my past started flooding my mind. Those days when I was alone cleaning wounds and bandaging anything that may be broken. Crying in my bed until I fell asleep.

"Let's try this again," Liam said. He stood up and went back to the table and started to clean the knife and set it aside and was deciding which knife to use. But before he could pick one, someone I didn't recognize walked in. I looked at him as he rushed in and whispered something to Liam. He looked irritated at what he had said. He didn't look at us and quickly rushed out of the room.

"Mack, listen to me. Don't tell him anything, no matter what...please." I pleaded with him.

"I..."

"Mack please." I once again pleaded.

"I'll do it but you will not die. I won't let him kill you."

This was already killing me. I was losing blood. And by the looks of my arm, It was a lot of blood.

----

I was cleaning off the blade and saw the door open up and saw Wilson walk in and I mumbled under my breath, "What?"

I shoved past him and he quickly followed behind me and closed the door. Once we were away from them we could finally talk normally.

"We couldn't find anything," Wilson mumbled.

"What do you mean you couldn't find anything?" I yelled.

"His name is Mack Wood. He's twenty-three years old. His parents died twenty years ago when he was three. Put in the foster system, Only child. And he has no other family left. Which I'm assuming isn't good news?" He asked.

"Of course, it's not!" I yelled, "I need something that ticks him off to give me what I want."

"Which is..."

"I want to destroy everything that the Fawsons built and burn it to the ground. I want to make their mafia bow down before me."

"Well I walked in and saw the way he was looking at her, and to me, it wasn't a brotherly type look. It looked kinda like he had a crush on her."

"Thank you for your help, Wilson," I smirked and patted him on the back.

I walked back towards the basement and walked back to where Melody and Mack were at. I started looking again at Melody. She seemed a little paler than she did when I left. I grabbed some type of bandage to help stop the bleeding.

"What...what are you...doing?" Melody stuttered.

"As I said earlier you're worth more to me alive than dead."

After I finished bandaging up her arm I stood back up and walked back to the table. I decided to text our personal doctor to make sure she wasn't in any critical danger. She came down and said everything was fine. She suggested not to do this and that she needed to rest. I rushed her out and looked back at them.

"Let's try this again," I smirked.

-----

My arm hasn't stopped bleeding which wasn't a good sign but I'm also feeling a tad bit lightheaded and have started to feel extremely tired. All I want to do right now is close my eyes and sleep. But I have to stay awake. I need to make sure I don't die or Mack blabs about...well actually I have no idea. Whatever Liam is trying to find is clearly pissing Mack and him off while I’m sitting here possibly bleeding out and have no idea what either of them is talking about.

Liam walked in and looked at me and then at Mack. His gaze once again turned towards me. He seemed semi-annoyed. He grabbed something from the side of the desk and walked towards me. He started bandaging the cut on my arm. He walked towards the desk and pulled out his phone and texted someone. Panic started rising in me.

This is how I'm going to die. He's sending someone worse than him to get the job done quicker. Which I don't think is possible. But I'm probably wrong.

Actually no I'm absolutely wrong about that.

I stopped as soon as I saw a doctor walk in and made sure I was okay. Liam shoved her out the door and looked at us and that stupid grin appeared on his face... again.

"Let's try this again shall we?" Liam asked.

He turned to the cloth and I saw that his finger was going over the bottom parts of the knife. Doesn't want to get cut by his blade. He stopped suddenly and picked up a hunting knife.

"Are the Fawson’s currently in Pairs like Melody said?" Liam asked Mack.

He looked towards me and I shook my head and he was doing what I asked him to do...so far. Mack looked away immediately from Liam's gaze.

"Wrong answer," Liam said. He cut my other arm this time quickly which made me let out a silent sound.

Liam washed off the knife and put it aside as he had done with the other knife.

He grabbed a kitchen knife and came at me again. "Where's the next shipment coming in and where is it at?"

"I can't tell you that Liam!" Mack shouted.

"Wrong answer again," Liam mumbled cutting my left leg. I made the same sound I did last time except a little louder.

Liam sighed and walked back to the table and repeated the same process he did the last two times. Instead of a knife this time he just came forwards and stood in front of me.

"Who are they meeting with?" Liam asked.

"Again, I can't tell you," Mack replied.

I felt a stinging on my face and quickly spit out a tad bit of blood. That jerk hit me! Oh, I'm gonna kill him when I get out of here.

After a while, Liam sighed and sat on the table, and looked at Mack.

"I hope you know that you can stop this, I know how much you love Melody. And I mean not as a little sister." Liam chuckled. That got Mack's attention and mine. He glared at Liam and both of them looked at me. I could tell my eyes were wide, I hoped that this wasn't true...I consider him nothing more than a big brother.

"Mack? Is it true, do you like me?" I asked. I didn't care what situation we were in if he did...I'd have to tell him how I felt about him. And he definitely wouldn’t like that.

"I...I don't know...even if I did you wouldn't go for a guy like me." Mack mumbled. I could hear the disappointment in his voice.

No one spoke for what felt like hours. But of course, Liam was the one to say something.

"Mack, tell me who are some of their allies? Which mafia supports them the most?" Liam asked.

Wait did he just...maybe I'm hearing things. There's not a chance in hell my parents would do something like that. They wouldn't join the mafia. They were boring and had no life! And they're too old to do stuff like that.

Mack didn't say anything. Which resulted in Liam punching my face...again. The taste of blood was metallic and honestly, I want to barf.

I'm seriously getting tired of this shit right now.

"Stop it, Liam!" Mack shouted. "Even if I wanted to tell you I can't! I don't know anything, you'd have to talk to his right-hand man...which I'm pretty sure you killed him!"

"Mack! You promised you wouldn't say anything!"

"I'm sorry Melody...I can't see you get hurt like this anymore…not again…" Mack said, mumbling that last bit so only I could hear what he said. That’s when an actual tear fell down my face. I’d finally moved on from my past but somehow it always seemed to pop right back up. Somehow it always was brought back up.

I glared at Mack. But this is something that can get him killed. Saying he doesn’t know anything doesn’t exactly help.

I could see the anger boiling in Liam. I swear he looked like the tomato from the Veggie Tales movies and t.v show. Well, technically any tomato. That's irrelevant at the moment right now.

Liam whistled and the guy named Charlie walked in he didn't look very happy at the moment. Liam nodded and I felt duct tape being placed on my mouth. I felt Charlie's hand grab my head and made me turn towards Mack.

I saw that Liam had pulled out his gun and aimed it right between Mack's eyes. I started screaming as loud as I could. The tape made my screams quiet.

"Goodbye Mack." Liam smiled as he pulled the trigger.
