“There is no big deal about my coming, kids. Your Mum did not turn up at work today and we got worried.” I started calmly; glad that they would never know how far I was from the truth.

“She did not? But Mum never misses work.” Erica said with a little show of surprise and I thought about how good she would be in Hollywood. Such a dramatic queen!

“Well, she did and because I was also worried, I came here to check on her and guess what I saw when I got here?”

“A woman having a fever. I met your Mum sleeping with the shades drawn and the room thrown into total darkness and when I touched her skin, it was so hot, I was almost scalded.” I had not meant to reveal all or be very upfront with their Mum’s he
