45: Angry regardless

Kayla’s POV

I was indeed surprised by how Max allowed Sapphire and Carl to speak to each other while he stood outside talking with Hector. When they were done talking, Carl left and since I had very good hearing I could hear him telling Max that he is grateful to which Max said nothing.

He immediately entered the room and Sapphire’s smile disappeared. “ Please…can I talk to Sapphire.” He said with painstaking slowness. I bet it hurt like a bitch for him to say the word, please.

“ Sure you can, she’s right here,” Aubrey said but he shook his head and said,” alone”

“ Sapphire…are you okay with this?” Azalea asked. Sapphire took in a deep breath and nodded. We all gave Max a warning look before exiting the room.

“ Hey,” Hector said the minute I came out with Aubrey and Azalea, the next thing I know he was kissing me senseless and I lost myself in his arms, kissing him and forgetting that I wanted to listen in on Sapphire and Max’s discussion, just in case he does anything stupid.
