Chapter Eight

Regina Campbell didn't bother to have breakfast. Her major aim was to get to the company as soon as possible. She had just 10 minutes left and it's so obvious she's going to be late.

Getting a cab was easy but the problem lies on how to get there as fast as possible.

It's been four days since she got the Job and she must confess that the HS company is one hell of a company. It hasn't been going on easy for her with the amount of workload that's been given to her by her supervisor.

Sometimes, she gets to work late into the night, just so she can round it up. There's no breathing space for her.. Not just her, but the entire employees as well.

She noticed that the only time the employees get to spend time with each other is only during lunch breaks, that lasts for about an hour... The rest time is just to work, work, and work.

Most times, she forgets it's lunch time and skips lunch just because she has to finish working on a document and get it submitted at the time frame given.

Daniel has been scarce since she last saw him on her first day and she's aware of the fact that he might be busy with one work or the other.

Regina tried to go about her normal life, especially when Hills Sebastian doesn't show up at the office. He rarely comes to the office and when he doesn't, the workload reduces drastically and the company becomes a little bit calm.

However, when he shows up at the office, it becomes a roller coaster for everyone. Because everyone gets assigned to more work than they can handle. It's pretty much chaotic with the boss around.

The few times he showed up at the office and they bumped into each other, he never missed the opportunity to ask about Mirabelle. Regina was uncomfortable and always tried her best to avoid him the best way she could so he wouldn't get to ask about her daughter.

Last night, she came back home late and was exhausted, so she can't be blamed for sleeping too much. She has the most stressful and tiring Job ever.

It's Friday and she can't be any less happy because she'd be having the entire weekend to herself.. With no worries about work and she hoped for her Boss not to show up.

Hills walked out of his house and Colin, who had been leaning on the car, rushed towards him and took his briefcase case.

"You know you don't have to do that Colin"

"I don't complain sir, it's my job, so let me"

Hills shrugged and slid into the car. Colin shut the door and rushed over to the driver's seat.

"Sometimes, I wonder what you find so pleasing about this Job? If you hadn't insisted on being my driver, I would have gotten you a good position at my company" Hills started.

He had wanted Colin to come work at his company but the latter won't bulge. Colin has been his driver for years now and as of this moment, Hills sees him as someone who's more than a driver.. like a friend!

To Hills, nobody understands him better than Colin. He has been loyal and trustworthy to him.

"I love this Job better Sir! I don't wish to have a different Job" Colin responded.

"You're just like your father Colin. He was this Loyal to my Dad.. I guess you got your good traits from him"

Colin smiled.. "I derive pleasure driving you to wherever you want sir. You might not want to believe it, but if my dad could serve your Dad for decades... then I can too"

His laughed as he found Colin's words funny.

"It's not gonna last for long. I won't let you be my driver forever... You deserve better Colin. Anyways, just in case you change your mind, the offer is still open"

Colin nodded and drove out of the mansion.

"Did you pack everything?" Hills asked.

"Yes! everything's in the trunk"

After a 30 minutes drive, Colin drove into an orphanage home. He alighted from the car and opened the door for Hills.

As soon as Hills got down, some kids ran to him chanting his names and looking all excited as if they were all waiting for his arrival.

Hills had a bright smile on his face, he missed the kids and it was obvious the kids did too.

Colin brought out the items from the trunk and Hills said he got a gift for everyone. The kids were all excited as Hills led them in with Colin behind.

When Hills wants to brighten up his mood or feel relaxed, he either comes to the orphanage or the kids pack. Playing with children and seeing them happy, gives him an unquenchable feeling of joy.

He spent quality time with the kids and he also helped treat an injury on a little boy finger. He was scared of injections but with Hills there, he made the little boy have it.

All the time Hills spent with the kids, Colin stood far away. He dislikes kids because he termed them as noisy creatures.

"One day Colin, you'd have your own kid. Let me see how you're going to cope with that" Hills always tells him.

Soon, it was noon and Hills said goodbye to the kids and left. Colin exhaled deeply as soon as they were out of the orphanage. He wasn't the one playing with the kids, yet he looked stressed out.

"Let's go to the office Colin. When you drop me off, I need you to go get some earrings and go back to the orphanage.."

"Why sir?"

"Oh! The little girl I helped get treated for, it's her birthday today and I need her to have her special present."

"Okay sir"

--------

Daphne Nobel had a phone placed on her ears and she seemed to be yelling at whoever it was, she looked quite upset.

"Don't you dare mess with me! Send over the products I ordered first time tomorrow morning, else I'm going to sue your company and make sure no one patronizes you anymore. It's a warning"

With that, she disconnected the call and rubbed her forehead gently. When she's in business, she hates when her order gets delayed. It's an annoying business strategy for her.

"Welcome to my... fashion shop. Oh! It's you" Daphne recognized the customer who just walked in as the proud stranger who gave her a ride. ".. It's Colin right?"

Colin didn't recognize her at that very moment, but it soon clicked. He simply ached his brows and didn't react further.

".. You know, it's so nice to finally see you again. I thought we won't bump into each other again, I guess the world is indeed small as they say.." Daphne was smiling and laughing at the same time but Colin did not react. He acted like he's not the one she's talking to.

"..I never got the chance to say a proper thank you to...."

"Let me see the collections of earrings you have" Colin cuts Daphne off.

That's it.. She knew she was never wrong about her judgement with people. He's indeed so proud of himself. He won't even let her say what's on her mind.

She mentally scoffed at him then brought out the collection of earrings she has. Colin tried to make a choice but couldn't. He has no idea the type of earrings that is meant for kids.

He hated the fact that Hills had sent him on this kind of errand but he couldn't say no, because it was an order from his boss.

"If you're having difficulty making a choice, then I might as well help you with that... if you don't mind" Daphne suggested.

"Mhm"

"May I know who you're getting it for? Is it your mother? Sister?.. You know, Girlfriend?.. Wi.."

"For a child" Again Colin cuts her off.

He couldn't help but feel annoyed. Seems like the only time he bumps into this lady is only when he's in a foul mood and she's not helping matters.

To him, She talks too much and it's annoying him even more. He doesn't know what her name is, and he doesn't care to know either.

"Here! This is the perfect one for a child"

Colin took it and looked at it properly, he admired it.

"Wrap it up, I'm taking it" He pushed it back to Daphne, who wrapped it up and told him what his bill is.

"Keep the change.."

"Thank you! I hope to see you next time..." Daphne said as he was already out of the shop.

Daphne Nobel felt like kicking his a*s. How dare he try to act like a Greek God. Just because he gave her a lift doesn't mean she should worship him!.

She's so done trying to be friendly with him when all he does in return is to ignore her and act like he doesn't know her.
