22. All that sparkles isn't gold.....

I opened my eyes briefly, gaining consciousness as I was being slightly tossed around in the back of some van. The floor was hard and cold beneath me. I could feel the vomit rising in my throat, but before I could worry about the nausea, I felt another wave of drowsiness hit me as I fell back into darkness.

When I next awoke, I could feel humidity hanging heavily in the warm air. I was now lying on a soft surface that smelt clean and kept. I forced my heavy eyelids open and took in the room. There were large windows showing off the night sky, but I appeared to be looking out over the inky black sky that met the dark depts of what looked like a sea. I moved closer and noted my window hung over a steep and high plunging cliff. The room had a Mediterranean feel, and the floor tiles were terracotta in appearance. I had woken in an expensive dark wood four poster bed. The wooden bed frame had figures carved into it. At first glance, they looked like gargoyles, but I noticed on
