Chapter Twenty-one

I left the dining hall feeling quite relieved. The meal was quite sumptuous, but I could only manage to eat a small portion of it. My thoughts were preoccupied with Elsa and the strange occurrence in her room. I could not wait to get back to my room and sort out my thoughts.

As I walked through the hallway, I could feel the coldness of the castle seep into my bones. It was always chilly, but today it felt particularly frigid. I wrapped my fur shawl around me tightly, trying to preserve as much heat as I could.

The corridors were empty, and I could hear the echo of my footsteps with each stride. It was almost as if the entire castle was in a state of slumber. The only sounds were the creaking of the doors and the hushed whispers of the guards.

I made my way up the spiral staircase that led to my room. The staircase was narrow, and I had to take each step cautiously. At the top, I stopped to catch my breath, leaning against the wall. The castle's height always left me a bit lightheaded,
