Chapter 67

EVA'S POV

I paced back and forth in my room, my thoughts consumed by the worry that gnawed at me. I had told Adrian about Xerxes, warned him about the danger he posed, but I couldn't help but feel like he wasn't taking me seriously. The guy thought I was just making up stories but why would I even do that?

My expression must have betrayed my anxiety because I could feel the tension in my face, the creases forming in my forehead, and the worry lines etching themselves around my eyes. I couldn't shake off the feeling that something terrible was going to happen, and the thought of Adrian being hurt by Xerxes made me anxious.

I continued to pace, my footsteps echoing against the wooden floorboards, as I tried to think of what else I could say or do to make Adrian see the truth about Xerxes. I couldn't shake off the feeling that Xerxes was hiding something, that he was dangerous, and that he would bring nothing but trouble if nobody stopped him.
