Chapter 72

Audrey’s POV:

My heartbeat accelerated as I looked into his deep dark eyes, those eyes I’d loved during the times of my gullibility. I couldn't stop myself from trembling slightly at the sight of him, not from fear but from something else entirely.

I also couldn't control my hand which was shaking vehemently, but then my face was passive... emotionless.

The monster who was standing in front of me was more deadly than anyone I have met; he was the type capable of drawing you close just to kill you when you least expect.

I would call him a beast. One who would shred another into pieces in the blink of an eye. I stared at my feet. I couldn't look at him, not even for a second.

He reached out for my hand and goose bumps appeared all over my body. I flinched at his cold touch. His fingers were still the same. Nothing changed about him.
