Eliane's POV
"Are you sure, gorgeous?" Maya asked me for the tenth time since I called her.
"I promise. I'm fine. I want to see things through here."
"Fine, but if anything happens..."
"I'll catch the first flight to you," I laughed trying to show her that I was really fine. "Anyways, tonight I'll send you some pics of my new baby." It was her turn to laugh.
"I already saw it."
"When?"
"When you were making out with it. Poor Alex, he didn't see this one coming!!",
"What? It was recorded?"
Maya POV"...And then uncle Rain and uncle Luca went back with me this morning to ...""Wait, wait, wait... Uncle Rain and Uncle Luca? Since when?", Eliane put down the spoon and turned to look at me with a light blush. I could clearly see that she wasn't comfortable with it."Yesterday, Bet... Uncle Rain said that it was weird being called by his rank in his house and asked me to drop it." She bit her lower lip, "He wanted me to call him dad, but I couldn't. Alex suggested to call him uncle until I feel more comfortable." It made sense in a way. She was living with them, monopolizing their kitchen, and more than anything, she was their daughter-in-law. She's practically family now."And what about the other idiot?",
Luca POVI watched her walk away. I wanted to stop her, but I couldn't move. 'Let's not talk at all, head enforcer!' Her cold words made my Lycan whimper in the back of my mind. The mate I was waiting for, the woman I almost lost hope to ever meet after a century of desperate research, didn't want to talk to me. What did I do? I never wanted to hurt her. To make her cry. I just wanted Eliane's wolf to step up, to stop hiding behind the false safety of this bold Human. I wanted her to unleash her inner powers and become a shield to protect my mate. To stand between her and any potential danger instead of hiding behind her. Just thinking about all the foolish things my Human mate has done before makes my blood freeze in my veins.I knew she was different from the moment our eyes met. She didn't give in to the mat
Maya's POV,"Two hundred thousand dollars!!" The familiar smug voice woke me up from my heated daze. My head started spinning. My hands and feet became cold. I turned toward the voice's direction, only to find a pair of snobbish eyes looking down at me. I knew she would be here, but I didn't expect her to look for trouble. I sighed, looking toward Eric and liza, who were both frowning."Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars!!" Liza was the one to bid higher."Well, it looks like even our hosts are interested in this royal diner!" The M.C said, surprised like everyone else."Is that her?" Eliane's grabbed my hand. I nodded, finding it hard to speak. After all these years, it still hurts. The pain was still there. I took a deep breath, pretending not to notice her."Who is she?" Asked Alexia, sensing the change of moo
Eliane's POV"I can't believe he apologized to you!!" Alex looked stunned."I can't believe he offered me a one million dollars dinner!!" My eyes were roaming inside the fairy carriage. Everything looked magical. I did feel like a princess."It should've been me who offered you this." I glanced toward the overly-cute sulking Alex, who was glaring at the menu. Chef Ingrid prepared different menus to match the winner's dietary preferences."I don't really care who got it for us as long as you are the one sitting here with me, my prince." I smiled shyly, trying hard not to blush. He grabbed my hand and brought it to his lips. He softly kissed it before resting his forehead on it.
Maya's POVI walked back inside the hall and went straight to Lily who was supervising the donations. I waited for her until she was done talking and thanking one of the guests. She slipped the check inside the sealed box then started tapping on her tablet."I need some good news." She looked up with a tired smile. She was as tired as me, maybe more since she had to deal with the guests with a smile all the time. "Please I need one to keep going and mostly to shut Liza up." I sat down to rest my poor legs. High heels are certainly not the best footwear to run around."Well, the guests are finally starting to leave, and let me add with a very good impression. They didn't spare any compliment about the whole Gala. That's good news for us" She said, sitting down next to m
Eliane's POV "Remember, I've got your bag," Alex said for the fifth time, making me roll my eyes. "But I still don't understand why I can't just..." "Because it's Maya's and my annual tradition. I'm not gonna break it now. I understand that you're feeling left out, but you're still not coming with us." I huffed and walked away to the opposite wall. "Stop it, Alex! It's just a few hours." His sister came to the rescue. She sounded annoyed by her brother's nagging. Alex was so against my shopping date with Maya. Why can't he just understand that I missed her and I wanted to have some alone time with her? "I'm not against it Eliane, I just know I'll miss you so much. Can I tag along?" My heart softened at his painful
Maya's POV"Hello," I called for the third time before checking again on maps. I was at the right place but the warehouse was empty. It even looked like it wasn't used in ages. I took a deep, full-of-dust breath and tried calling back the number."Well hello there!" I turned around, startled by the sudden yet familiar voice. I was pretty sure no one was around. The moment we locked eyes, my blood froze in my veins. How could I forget those dull green eyes? He had the same creepy presence I remember from our one and last encounter. I took a step back, trying to calm my hammering heart as a million thoughts ran through my head. What was he doing here? How did he get here? Is it an ill-fated coincidence or is it planned? At least Eliane is far away and safe. That simple thought was all it took to regain my composure.
Eliane's POVNothing, I couldn't feel a single thing. My body was numb and cold even though I was in Alex's arms. The room was in complete chaos but the buzzing in my ears kept me from hearing the said words. My eyes were on the smashed phone in my hands, Maya's phone. The outdated phone she kept for years while she insisted I changed mine every couple of years or so.It was midnight and we still couldn't find a clue about her whereabouts. The warehouse, from where she made her last call was empty. Uncle Luca and uncle Rain didn't find anything there except for the broken phone and her already fainting scent. She was long gone by the time they got there. The phone used to call her was a dead end too. The one who called her used a burner."We'll find her Eliane, I promi
