Kai:

“Ready, set, go…” the bartender said. Irina and I gulped our vodka shots and put the shot glasses down, more specifically, slamming them down on the table.

Irina’s eyes brightened as she laughed, clapping her hands when she saw that she had put the glass down before me. Her eyes met mine and I couldn’t help but smile, my smile genuinely reaching my eyes, as I saw this side of her.

“Your woman can drink.” The bartender said, and Irina, who was drowsy by now, raised an amused eyebrow.

“She is my wife, my friend.” I said, and Irina brushed me off as she looked down at her nails, as if pretending that she had just had them manicured.
