Chapter 39

Leah POV

We were outside taking a stroll. The mansion and its surroundings were too quiet. There were very few men left. I wondered how the plan was going.

I sat down on a log of wood with a dramatic sigh. Evelyn had told me they would be back soon and nothing would happen to any of them but I couldn't help but worry. I was worried about Connor and maybe a little bit about Damian.

He was the Alpha after all. It was already dark, with the wind getting colder by the minute. For some reason I felt like waiting for them. Damian had gone to the borders so we should be expecting him soon.

As I sat there, musing about a man that didn't care about me, I saw two men coming our way and I tensed up, standing and running towards them.

“What happened?” I gasped, a lump forming in my throat. One of them was perfectly fine but the other one was badly injured and bleeding profusely.
