Chapter 40

Leah POV

I woke up feeling flustered, worry gnawing in my mind. The room was too quiet. Stifling a yawn, I stood up from the chair I was seated on and went to check up on Damian.

He was still unconscious. I checked his pulse. It was beating wildly. My neck was sore from constantly watching him the whole night. It reminded me of when I had saved Anne.

Saving her was what brought me here in the first place. What would happen this time when Damian woke up?

The door flew open unexpectedly and I heard her before I saw her. “Why is he still asleep?”

As usual it was Stephanie and her impatient self. Taking a look at her, I noticed her eyes were red and she looked deranged. Marcus was behind her.

He also was not faring any better. Why were they both looking so unkept when I was the one taking care of him all through the night? I wanted to ask.

“Why is he still not awake?” She asked angrily, glaring at my hand. I was holding his wrist and she was not happy about that.
