RAE

I tossed and turned all night, my thoughts consumed with Vickie. What did this revelation mean for me? Was there a missing person report filed near where Vickie ran me over?

So, would I find my family?

I’d always thought I’d be all over the place, making myself ill with worry and anticipation once I found even a single clue about where I came from. What if my family hadn’t looked for me? What if they were monsters, and the amnesia had given me a new, happier life away from them?

But despite my mind running a mile a minute all night, I felt pretty calm. It was quite strange.

I’d felt calm since Rhys walked in and distracted me. Since he ushered me to bed and wrapped his arms around me. Rhys had spooned me all night and hadn’t slept, either. I’d been sure he would get angry again at some point in the night and ask me why I came back to my apartment, but he’d just held me. Tension vibrated through his body.
