I looked at the stranger who dared to act so familiar with me and then at Vickie’s flashy car as my former friend got into it and closed the door. My anger turned into a rage I’d never felt before, not even when I’d been jealous of Vickie and Rhys.

“What the hell are you doing?” I shouted at the man, trying to walk around him.

My bank account was empty until I got my paycheck on Friday, so I couldn’t call a taxi to take me to Vickie’s house. This was my only chance to confront her. My gaze remained on the car, focused on the tingling caused by the blonde’s reactions. She was terrified, and for some reason, that made me happy. Let her be scared. I wouldn’t stop until she paid for her betrayal.
