Chapter 24: Reason

It’s been weeks since we shared the same bed and we’re still here in Nome, Alaska. I told him that I wanted to wander around, but he told me that I couldn’t.

I told myself that I’d distance myself from him because I saw how horrible he was, but after doing that with him; we became close again.

We’re now in the kitchen and he’s peacefully cooking one of my favorite foods — baked sushi. One of the key ingredients is crab meat, canned tuna, rice, Japanese-style mayonnaise, and dried seaweed. The rest depends on your preference, but Zeno likes to enhance the taste by putting seasonings and sesame oil.

“You’re quiet. Are you thinking of something?” he interrogated, then took a glimpse of me after putting the pan in the oven to bake it for about 2-5 minutes.

“I was thinking about the time when we got ambushed,” I muttered. It’s annoying me. How can he act chill when we almost died?
