Chapter 42 The manipulation

Natasha's nails were biting into her palms. She wished she could tell him who she was, but her horrific past prevented her from doing so. She was afraid that revealing her identity would bring her past back to haunt her. She had been living as Natasha Moore for the past twenty years, burying her past in the graves of her biological parents. She would never bring it up.

"I looked for her," Sean continued, bringing her out of her trance. "I learned that a kind couple adopted her a few months after that kidnapping attempt. Then I gave up looking for her. Maybe she is happy somewhere with someone else. But I will never forget her favor." He clutched the pendant.

He became worried when he noticed her pale face. He quickly slid the pendant into his wallet and asked, "Hey, what’s wrong with you?" He held her shoulders, searching for her eyes. "Are you still suspecting me?"

Natasha shook her head frantically. "No… I am thinking…"

"Don’t think." He pulled her into his embrace. "That is my job.
