Chapter Forty-Five.

Sorah's POV.

His eyes roll over to meet my quavering ones, holding for seconds. Why is he just staring at me with that confusing casual aura about him? He winces promptly, still trying to stay with my eyes but his curse plagues him viciously and I leap from my seat the instant his eyes roll shut and his body falls freely forward.

I hold his head, hugging it against my chest amidst my pouring tears. Time and again, I leap to his rescue at his slightest pang. I do this on an impulse I have no influence over. My heart just leaps and all that blares in my mind is the grave need to save him and abolish all pain he suffers from.

“You mean Vampire...why do you keep toying with my heart and making a fool of my conviction?” I sniffle and hold him tighter to me. “I won’t forgive you for harassing me like this,” I whisper as I lower my face into his hair.

“I really won’t this time.”

Shutting my eyes, I will the tension in my body to calm down until I can concentrate on the pounds of my
