46: Banished

I closed my eyes tight , and for the first time in a long time, I felt a hint of betrayal that I had thought I would never experience in my life. I slowly scanned the crowd to see if the King would show up. I hated that every time he left me to be on my own, there was always one trouble after the other that rose up.

"Why, Melanie?" I thought to myself, slowly blinking the tears that were trying to fall.

I was drawn back to reality as all of them began to near me, trying to attack me, throwing stones at me, not caring where it hit. All of a sudden, I thought about the child in my womb and what I would do if it got hurt. That was all I had left. I could not risk it. I had no idea where the strength came from, but all I did was stare at the crowd. And I felt like a sudden surge of wind overcame the entire palace, as those who were approaching me all fell backwards.
