As Josie took a step forward, she held her breath, trying to gather the courage that had led her to apologize to her sister this morning. She didn’t want to make the same mistake but starting something was never easy for her. She feared the possibility of her losing control of herself to jealousy again.

That wasn’t what she wanted to do.

Jayden wasn’t hers. It’s the bitter truth but she realized it faster which was better for herself.

When she heard a loud clank, her entire body jumped. She looked behind, surprised to see how Shawn’s eyes had been intensely studying her.

She gulped, turning back to the prison cell and began to push her voice out, “Jay— Mr. Harding?”

Silence answered her to the point that she had to wait in five minutes if a pin drop silence. She looked back at Shawn whose eyes turn less intense.

He nodded to her and Josie decided to call for the man inside the prison cell again, thinking that her voice must have been too soft to be heard.
