Stepping inside the kitchen, Mrs. Maury let Josie in before shutting the door behind them, something they rarely do. She then looked at her daughter, “What happened? Why are you alone?”

While Mrs. Maury wasn’t educated she knew something was off instantly with her instinct. “Rose would have came with you if you are going to come back home,” her mother added again.

“It is about Rose,” Josie hesitantly brought up, sighing underneath her breaths, “She’s leaving with Dominic.”

“Leaving?” Her mother gasped, “Leaving where?”

“Outside Essex for…” Josie could see her mother’s face palling that put her in a bind. She couldn’t see herself telling her mother that her sister had gone to a trip after a single letter which was obviously odd.
