Chapter 40

OLIVIA.

I never talked with Nash after the incident in the garden. I wasn’t strong enough to face him. I feared I’d cowered like usual if I tried talking with him. Despite getting hurt over and over again, my heart never learned its lesson, and I still hoped for him when he gave me a little affection.

My love for him was too big, or perhaps I was just a fool dreaming of magical love in a world filled with bitterness. Facing my pathetic reflection, I laughed, and tears slipped from my eyes. Sometimes I wondered when I would get stronger and could stand for myself.

I could always reject Nash, but thinking about the painful aftermath made me scared beyond words. Many of us had died after the pain of losing our mate, and I wasn’t ready to become one of them.

Sighing, I averted my gaze, smoothened my skirt, and placed a flower ornament on my hair.

Knock, Knock~

“Come in.”

“Luna Olivia,” the young maid gathered her skirt before curtsied. “The former Luna is asking for you.”
