Chapter 44: Why are you defending her?

"You sure got the right idea," chuckled Eric. He kissed her on the forehead and said, “Thanks for understanding." He hugged her and sighed.

“It’s alright once we’re married, I will help you lessen your burden.”

“I know you will.”

Samantha snuggled into his arms.

“I just hope that by that time, you will be able to annul the engagement with her," said Samantha.

"Who?"

"Ruby, of course."

Eric's heart ached at the mention of her name. He thought to himself, that he is holding the woman he love in his arms. Yet, his heart and mind wanders to the woman he hates. Why is heart wavering at the mention of her. What is going on with him? How can he be unfaithful to the woman he love? How can he not love the woman who cherishes him the most? He was confused.

“I- I hope so too.”

“Did she peskier you?” asked Samantha as she heard his stuttering response. She looked at him innocently in his arms.

“No.”

“Is she here?”

“No.”

“Good. I didn’t want to see her either,” and she hugged him tighter.
