Damon's POV

When I had thought to enter the mansion area through the back route, I didn't think much about it other than the fact that I want Alpha River to see how disrespectful he had acted when he came to my pack land without prior notice. What I didn't expect was that I would stumble upon something so pleasant to my ears.

And I heard it all. Every word that has transpired between River and Evie. The way the man had blatantly asked Evie to be his spy and how the woman had refused him and his offer. The way he had tried to be insisting and the woman had also insisted that she was not going to do such a thing no matter how hard he tried to get her to do that.

To say I was impressed would be saying the least about these things. I was both impressed and happy. Yes, I stopped doubting her loyalty after she led me straight to that cloaked man. I had even had it at the back of my mind to announce her freedom as a slave to the entire pack just to show my gratitude to her. But the way sh
