After Liam left, my mum and Ellie came to the dining room. I was already prepping the ingredients for the cookies.

“I’m sorry about yesterday. I’m sorry for being hard on you these past years.” I heard my mom say, which confused me. My mother apologizing? That was a very rare sight and for a second, I wondered who she was talking to.

“What?” I asked and turned to her, trying to make sure I heard correctly.

“Forgive me, Nessa.” She pleaded.

I stood there, frozen in shock. My mum had never apologized to me before, and I didn’t know what to say.

“Emm, where is this coming from?” I was baffled.

“Ellie made me see things differently.” I turned to Ellie, she smirked at me and left us alone.

I wondered what Ellie must have said to her. I didn’t want to make the conversation awkward. “Thanks for apologizing.” I finally replied.

I didn’t know if I was ready to forgive her. She had been a pain in the ass for years and one ‘I’m sorry’ wasn’t going to make all my hurt go away
