Chapter Fifty One

I had always thought of Damon as a nice person. He made me feel welcome when I first moved in. Even if I didn’t expect the other associates to approve, I didn’t expect that kind of outburst from him.

I didn’t want to think about it so I just let my mind wander off and focused on eating my dinner. We finished our meal, got up, and went to our rooms.

“Goodnight, Vito,” I said as we got to the end of the staircase.

“Goodnight, Nessa,” Vito replied, a soft smile on his face. He gave me a quick kiss before turning to go to his room.

I walked to my room and closed the door behind me. I changed into my pajamas, ready to drift off to sleep.

I lay there, closed my eyes, and waited to fall asleep. I tossed and turned on the bed but I couldn’t fall asleep. I decided to pick up the book I was reading earlier. Books always seem to make me fall asleep whenever I try reading them at night.
