I barged into the house, arms full with the day's shopping and then it hit me that I had gotten in without having to unlock the door which I had locked before stepping out.

"Mum? You're home already?" I yelled, dumping the bags on the center table and standing by it just in case I needed to run out.

"Yes." She replied, coming down the stairs.

I heaved a sigh of relief.

"I've been home all day." She continued. "Where did you go?"

"Out shopping with friends." I replied, pointing to the bags on the table for emphasis.

"Really?" She replied, her eyes landing on the bags on the table. "You didn't tell me about this friend."

I rolled my eyes.

"You're barely home." I replied. "Besides, it slipped my mind."

She sighed, going through the purchases in the bag.

"These are all designers." She pointed out.

"Yes." I replied, anticipating the lecture that was to come.

"How can you accept this?" She asked, worry etched over her features. "How well do you know this friend? You don't know what they do
