Chapter 53 - Rejection

Olivia POV

We were left alone in the alley and my heart dropped into a bottomless pit in my stomach. I refused to look at Gabriel, feeling like I might burst into tears if I met his gaze.

I understood why he wanted to keep helping Linnea, even though it meant risking his life. I knew how important packs were to werewolves, and I couldn’t possibly ask him to leave his pack for me.

A part of me was hurt that he wouldn’t fight for me, but I knew what I was getting myself into when I agreed to his request.

I just thought we had more time.

“Olivia.” Gabriel said softly.

I didn’t reply, so he wrapped one arm around my waist and gripped my chin, forcing me to look at him.

When I felt a tear slip down my cheek against my will, I cursed silently and closed my eyes.

“Please look at me.” He pleaded.

I opened my eyes and saw the same pain in his eyes.

“Do it.” I whispered.
