Pov Lily

It was around midnight, and I knew it because I could no longer hear the birds singing outside the walls. That's how I could differentiate between day and night. If my calculations were correct, it had been three days since we had that conversation with the Alpha. He hadn't come back to see me. I was growing weaker and more incapacitated by the day. Having only one meal per day was taking a severe toll on my strength, and my wolf no longer had the energy to help me with my wounds.

"Lily, hold on... I know the Alpha will give in and come to save us," Ayla's voice sounded in my mind, trying to keep me awake once again.

"Give it up, Ayla. He hates us and doesn't even recognize us as his mate. Maybe this was the fate the Moon Goddess destined for me. Perhaps I'm truly cursed," I whispered with trembling lips, my body cold from the dampness in the dungeon.

"Don't lose hope, Lily. As long as we're still alive, there's hope," Ayla used her last strength to speak to me once more.
