I squinted my eyes at the harsh lighting. Blinking my eyes open I looked around. My vision felt blurry as I tried to narrow my eyes. I clutched my head as if felt heavy when I tried to sit up.    "You're awake?" Lukas voice rang in my ears. I snapped my attention towards him, eyes widening when I noticed that he was sitting on the floor near the nightstand. How is that possible?     It felt weird to see him like that, a blank look on his face and yet so calm. The bags under his eyes along with the five o'clock shadow on his face made me narrow my eyes. His usual coat was wrinkled by the side, the top three buttons open, giving the view of his bare chest. My lips pressed together. Did something happen which kept him up all night? There has to be a reason why he was sitting on the floor like that.    I groaned, shaking

After hearing Kira talk about Lukas not leaving my side it caused a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach. Was he really concerned for me or the baby? But it did not matter because he stayed by my side and did not even take credit for it. Earlier when I thought about attending the party it was just to keep this word but after hearing what he did I was excited to see him.     It was difficult to decide on one outfit so I just went with my gut and picked A-line V neck, lace white dress with peach stilettos. My hair was curled at the edges and I let Kira do my make up.     For the first time in a while, I felt truly pretty.    "Thanks, Kira. I'll see you downstairs" I patted at her arm.    The party was in the living hall but on the other end of the wing.

/Lukas POV/ The moment I stepped down I could sense that Li Changying was in the room. I tried not to slam my head to the wall. Who would invite someone like her? The first time I met her I thought that we could be friends but everything changed after that one night.  For some weird reason, she was obsessed with me and wanted to get married as soon as possible. I was not a kind of guy who was readily available for commitment and most of them knew about it. So it made me wonder what made her ask me to court her in front of everyone?   I thought that people steered clear of her just because she was the daughter of the Demon King but that was not the case. Not only was she ill-tempered but she had no respect for people above over or under her. That's why no one associated with her kind and did not invite her anywhere. But still, she shows up.  I nodded my head when I noticed

My vision was hazy but I could still see my best friend getting her groove on the dance floor. I puckered my lips at that. She was such an elegant dancer even without trying but I couldn't even move two steps without falling on my face.   Lukas nudged at me, probing to take it down with my drinks. He has been saying that the entire night without even slurring. How was he not affected by the alcohol? Maybe it is just me. I thought to myself. Being lightweight sucks.    He pulled the shot glass from my hand making me frown.    "Why..." I slurred, adjusting my vision to the harsh lighting. He shook his head and held my arm. Goosebumps pricked my skin at his touch. Why did I feel that way whenever he touched me? It was the third time now. The first two times we bumped hands together accidentally.   &

I felt shortness of breath. Talking with Li Changying caused the feeling of dread to settle in my stomach. Over the past few weeks, I've grown quite fond of my baby and the thought of losing it made my insides clench. But what if it turns out to be true? What if Lukas kills our child?      'No. What the hell are you thinking? He would never do something like that'    I let out a sigh. He was a demon after all but it was impossible to believe that he would kill his own next of kin. If he really did want to kill the baby he would have let me die instead of calling the fairies and sitting by my side.    After that, I could not join the party. Lukas seemed to be in a kind of mood because he did not object to my decision. I retreated back to my room and let my body rest for a while.

My heart rate quickened as I stepped towards the other side of the floor. Everything was too bright and shiny. Suddenly I was sitting on the bar stool with a bottle of water between my fingers. From across the room, his eyes met mine, or at least I thought they did. He stood out from the crowd, his eyes red and glowing in the dark. Lukas smirked as he pulled a stool beside me, "Hi" My legs felt wobbly at the look on his face. Was he always this handsome?  "Hey," I breathed, pressing my legs together. "Wanna dance?" He asked and didn't give me the time to actually answer. I gasped as his hand found mine, he wrapped his fingers

There were a few instances in my life which I'll deeply regret. And this is one of them. I should have known better than to wander off in the place which was unknown to me. Every turn I took led me deeper into the trees and I had no idea how to turn away. There was no way I could scream for help because the trees were so tall that my voice would echo in between them.  I felt like crying because according to my watch I was wandering from the past two hours. My feet ached and I felt my throat dry with each step I took. There was no water nearby.  Even though I could not see the sun, the heat was causing me to sweat, drenching the mid-region of my belly.   Breathing had become a task. But I still continued to walk in the hope that I would find a way out.

As soon as I stepped inside my room, I slumped on the bed, facing the window.  The one thing Lukas did right was get me the sea view. Even in anger, I was thinking about him. I groaned,d pushing my face into the pillow.    The words he said still echoed in my ears, and it made me grit my teeth. How can he say those things as if it was entirely my fault? He should have warned me that I'm unsafe even in his kingdom.   At the knock on the door, I curled up, refusing to respond. I didn't have any energy to talk to him or Kira. Anger was still bubbling in my stomach, and I couldn't answer any of them without snapping. If it's Kira, that's the last thing I want to do.

I stared at him, without blinking my eyes, scared that I will ruin the moment between them. For some reason, I could hear my heart beating loud against my chest. My breathing accelerated like I just ran a marathon. My hands were clammy. What was happening to me? I thought while staring at him. Was it just because of his touch?     I leaned more into his touch, noticing how his eyes turned into a darker shade. I never got the opportunity to see the real colour of the eyes because they always keep changing colours. Maybe they are chocolate brown just like his hair, deep and dark. I wondered.     "Cara" He whispered inching closer. I could feel his breath on my face, which made me shiver. With each passing second, he closed the distance between us, and I was aware of the creaking sound of the bed.
