Chapter 11
Walking down the stairs, Dave was watching the news, he briefly looked up but didn’t say anything.            Heading out the door without breakfast, Ivy wouldn’t stomach anything. The snow was falling hard, she didn’t want to walk to school. Most of the kids were already in the hallway, some of the teachers, too. She walked to her locker and grabbed her bags.            “Hey,” Nick whispered in her ear.            “Hey,” Ivy said, turning around. “You remember our deal?”            “Yeah, this isn’t about that. I was wondering if maybe I could give you a ride home today after school. It looks like the snow isn’t going to let anytime soon,” he asked, taking the books out of her hand.            “Sure, I guess, but I don’t want to talk about

Chapter 12
Nick paced the floor in front of the Elder healers, his heart in his throat. “How is she?” he begged to know.            The Doctor finally came out, it seemed like hours. “She’ll live, you have to watch her closely, she is the key.” She spoke softly.            “Take her upstairs, watch her close.” Another hissed at him.            “Alright.” He said picking her up and carrying her to a spare bedroom.          Footsteps paced the floor near her. Ivy still wasn’t able to open her eyes, “Well, how is she?” Marcie asked.            “She's healing, but slowly. We could still lose her. Why didn’t I go after her? Why didn’t I take her home?” Nick sounded frantic.             “Nick, it’s not your fault. I am s

Chapter 13
Morning peaked the corner; Nick was still sound asleep when Ivy woke up. She tried moving his arm without waking him, but he popped his eyes open. “Hey, beautiful.” He smiled.            “Um, call me that when I've had a shower and look better,” she said, getting out of bed.            “Eh, you're beautiful in my eyes no matter what you look like.” He yawned following Ivy into the bathroom. “Here are some of my mom’s clothes. I haven’t had time to get some of yours.”             “Thanks,” she said, taking the clothes. “I’ll be out in a bit.” Closing the door.            Ivy took a quick shower; the water was nice but burned on her wounds. Stepping out, she found a brush, and a toothbrush set out for her. She half-smiled as she slowly brushed her hair.    &

Chapter 14
Nick sat down next to Ivy; Marcie set their plates down in front of them. It smelled great, but something inside Ivy wanted out. She closed her eyes and counted to ten, the feeling went away.             Ivy wanted to tell Nick about what she was feeling, but she didn’t want him to worry about what she was feeling. Maybe it was all the stress from everything from her parent's murders, from everything that happened at school. She was hoping she wasn’t losing her mind. Maybe she was losing her mind and she would find herself locked away in a padded room. Maybe that would be good for everyone, maybe she did kill her parents and the town would kill her for it. Maybe they would torture her for it. She sighed, but Nick didn’t say anything, she was thankful for that.            Ivy ate quickly and looked at Nick. He was stunned. “What?” s

Chapter 15
Sometime in the middle of the night, Ivy woke up, she couldn’t sleep. She got out of bed and went to the window. The moon was high, so it was early in the morning. She thought about going for a walk to clear her head.            Looking back at Nick, she sighed. She put on her shoes and grabbed one of Nick’s hoodies, and headed out the door. She wasn’t going to go far, just a small walk.            Walking down the stairs, Ivy was afraid but she forced herself to leave the house. It was still snowing, but she didn’t mind it too much. It wasn’t cold to her. She liked the snow either way. Closing the door, she rubbed her hands together, it was cold enough she could see her breath. She wasn’t sure where she would go, she would let her feet lead her walk. Closing her eyes, she let her mind wander.

Chapter 16
Nick knew it was a bad idea to go to school tomorrow, but he wanted to keep it as normal as possible for Ivy. She was going to go through the ritual and it was going to be hard enough on her to not be able to control where she would go. Just the fact the Shadow Dwellers forced their magic into her body, she would be with them first, he wanted her to fight, but she would lose the fight.            “Damn.” He said out loud, but Ivy didn’t hear him, and he was glad. Nick wanted to know what she was thinking, but he didn’t want to force her to tell him. He wanted her to be upfront about her thoughts, but she didn’t know him, so that put her guards up. He knew a lot more about her, but he didn’t want her to know that, not yet at least.            “Tell me something, Nick,” Ivy said turning to face h

Chapter 17
Nick knew this was going to be hard on Ivy, he’d already been through this, and it wasn’t going to be easy. She was going to fail more than once, and there wasn’t anything he could say that was going to make this any easier. They had seven days to plan for this, the Council would arrive a few days before start setting things up and to make sure she knew what would happen, and to make sure she didn’t run away.            “I’m scared Nick, I don’t even know anything about this, and now I have seven days to deal with everything and accept my fate?” she said putting her hands to her face. “That’s like asking me to accept a whole new life without question.”            “I know, this isn’t fair to you.” He said wrapping his arms around her. “I will do everything I can to make this as easy as I can. Chapter 18
Ivy wasn’t sure if she should follow him out of the room. She didn’t want to go through this stupid ritual. She wanted to be a normal teenager, but that all was taken from her when she was thrown into this world that she thought didn’t exist. She wasn’t sure if her parents left any clues for her back at her house. She wanted to visit there alone, maybe she could sneak there and find out.            Looking back out the window, she heard Nick’s voice outside, he wasn’t happy. He was arguing with his father about leaving. He was yelling about the ritual and how he knew they were going to be doing it tonight and he wanted it stopped and that she wasn’t ready, but his father ignored him.            Ivy sighed, she watched them drive off. A soft knock at the door, she turned to see Marcy standing at the doorway, she was smiling.

Chapter 19
Ivy half-smiled at Drake, she wasn’t sure why she asked him to lay next to her. This was going to get her into trouble. She knew she wasn’t thinking straight. She looked at him, he watched her, his eyes were full of lust.            “Why are you looking at me like that?” Ivy whispered.            “Because you are so damn beautiful, I don’t know how long I am going to be able to control myself before I lose it.” He said taking his finger and running it down her arm. “I know you have feelings inside you that you are trying to hide.”            “No,” she said shaking her head. “I know you want me to become evil, but I am a good person, I don’t want to destroy people.” She said closing her eyes trying to keep control of herself. &nbs

Chapter 20
Ivy couldn’t take it anymore, she moved her legs to the side of the bed, walking to the door she opened it, and of course like promised two men stood there. One turned to her and smiled.            “Needing to find Drake?” he said clearing his throat.            “Yes.” She whispered. “Do you know where he is?”            “I’m here,” Drake said coming down the hall. “I just had some things to take care of, did you want some food?”            “Yes.” She said half smiling at him.            “Why don’t we get something then.” He said wrapping his arm around her. “I knew you wouldn’t be able to sleep so I had some pizza brought here just in ca
