Chapter 41
Anderson in his current state was not thinking straight. From the moment the dread and realization dawned on him about the high chance of Carson dying at the hands of the young Mary, the cloud in his mind had slowly begun to spread. He may have not realized, but for a while the thoughts of protecting this family of his had slowly begun to replace the main ideology and aim of his survival. The cloud was making him lose sight of what he was supposed to do. No, more specifically, he was allowing it to.From the moment Anderson arrived in this world and received the memories he now carried and cherished, he had allowed the feeling and seed of protectiveness he had developed to grow. He knew it would hurt him. He knew it was very stupid of him, but for some reason, he just allowed it to do so. The feeling of a family different from his wife was a unique feeling that he was relishing to the day.Anderson was a person who had neither had any proper family nor displayed any ki

Chapter 42
To sheriff Doyle, the boy seemed a little to calm. No matter what, they were just teenagers that had never been in contact with a dead body before. Yet, the boy looked calm. Too calm in fact, that it was almost eerie. It did not particularly fit the M.O of a guilty suspect. Especially when it came to someone like the two teens standing in front of her. No matter how she looked at it, Carson’s behavior seemed to be the norm. Even if Anderson was trying hard to be strong or act the strong one for everyone, he needs to at least look a little shaken right? Yet the boy looked as natural as if it was not a human that had been killed down in the basement.Sheriff Doyle’s attention left Anderson and then tried a few more times to communicate with Mary, but she just sat there with a blank look. No matter how many times she called out to her, she continued to remain unresponsive. Carson who stood by the side looked like he might have a heart attack at any moment. He blamed

Chapter 43
Just because she did not know how to, did not mean she wouldn’t try. Looking at what the young girl was going through was hurting her quite a bit. Even though she could not relate to what she was going through, it was still heartbreaking to think about what she was going through. She tried to make her feel safe, but she knew the young girl would need therapy if the incident had not already scarred her beyond help. They remained silent with Mary continuing to silently stare in empty space. Sheriff Doyle sighed dejectedly and stood up from the couch. “Why don’t you take her home. We’ll try again another time. For now, let me take you home and allow her to get some rest.” Carson nodded his head in understanding. He walked to Mary and slowly helped her stand “Come on dear. Let’s ho home.” She slowly stood with the help of Carson, and both walked to the sheriff’s car. Sheriff Doyle who was already standing by the car helped them with the door before walking back into the

Chapter 44
“Someone killed him, Kira. Someone murdered the old man.” This time it was Carson who spoke. His voice was shaking and almost screaming. He was seated beside Mary who had been seated on the couch. Kira took a step back, shaking her head as if she did not believe what she had not heard. To her, the town they lived in was the safest place she knew. How could anyone commit something such as murder in the town? What worse, an old man?She quickly run to Carson and wrapped her hands around him, trying to sooth him. “Are you both alright? What happened to her?” She let go of Carson and turned her attention to Mary who just stared continuously at nothing in particular.“She saw the state of the old man. It was my fault. I wasn’t paying attention.” Carson spoke, once again blaming himself. Kira looked at the little girl and wrapped her arms around her to give her comfort. Anderson who stood by the side frowned at Carson.Frankly

Chapter 45
Anderson had been worried about them both that was the reason he had opted to try and protect them. He had initially wanted to stay with Carson, but realized he was not in his room after knocking a few times and entering. Anderson knew there was only one place left for him to be, especially when he had not been given much attention all evening since they got back. Although he did not know about later that evening, he knew Kira would definitely give him some attention during his sleepless night. Seeing a dead body for the first time was not something someone easily got over.Anderson walked to the girl’s room. He was about to knock gently so just so he did not wake up Mel. Anderson realized the door had a slight crack opened and was not completely closed. Looking through, he saw his two friends seated by the window ledge, having a conversation. Anderson smiled slightly. It had been a while since all three of them had sat out there and had a conversation. Anderson felt it

Chapter 46
“Anderson.” The twins came rushing back into the house after the sheriff had eventually left and hugged Anderson tightly. “Please don’t leave.”. Anderson was too preoccupied with his thoughts to have even noticed her leave.“I’m not going anywhere. I promise.” Anderson reassured the twins. They were devastated. Their older families, Carson and Kira just left without the decency of a goodbye, and now their new family was taken away. It was obvious they were afraid the last remaining big brother would leave as well. As for blaming him for Carson and Kira leaving, it had not once crossed their minds even they heard the sheriff talk about some argument among the three.Miss. Agnes walked into the house carrying Mel with a somber look on her face. Mel had her face hidden as she continued to silently cry. “Boys, why don’t you take Mel upstairs so I can talk to Miss. Agnes for a bit.” The twins nodded. They wer

The blue angel orphanage was somewhat of a big orphanage. It was the culmination of the work of a few philanthropists and was the only one in the whole city to not be affiliated to any catholic belief. Some said it was more of a smack in the face, a goad to the Catholics, especially for building it right in the middle of the city surrounded by other catholic orphanages and churches. As much as the rumors spoke, both parties knew it was more of a friendly competition among themselves. Something more of a who can help more orphans, type of competition. There was and there had never been a single bit of hatred among them. What they enjoyed was truly helping those in need. The Blue Angel orphanage, the only one of its name, was where little Anderson was sent and had stayed for a few years. “Wait.” Miss. Agnes suddenly spoke before taking a few more steps back. “The knife. Toss it away.” Anderson felt a little upset He had been hoping because she had a gun, she would get complacent and let him keep the knife. Thinking about it, it sounded a little dumb, even for him. If it were him, of course there was no way he would let his prisoner keep their weapon. Anderson tossed raised the knife up slightly, but heard the gun cocking behind him. The woman was every bit as alert as she could be. Anderson tossed the knife away after a slight hesitation. “Good boy. Don’t be a pouty baby. Besides, I have a surprise for you.” Miss. Agnes spoke after seeing Anderson continue to move right after tossing the knife away. She was delighted that he was moving on his own accord, granted it was under duress, but still. She looked like she had a plan, and it was better with them moving away.“Where are we going?” Anderson asked the

“Oh my, to what do I owe this unpleasant visit?” Suit looked to the three figures that were standing a few feet outside the bloody circle and spoke. His smile was as pleasing to the eyes as ever. Even after he just called their visit unpleasant, he still looked like a host welcoming their guest with the utmost courtesy, while occasionally stealing glances at the screen in front of him.The three that had arrived, two men and a woman, did not seem the friendly kind. To them, the smile Suit was sporting seemed to irk them even more. Their hate and displeasure, evident from the glare and sneer on their faces. Regardless of all of that, Suit did not seem to mind. His smile was still ever present on his face, and his concentration drawing ever more to the screen in front of him.“What are you doing?” One of the men, a little shorter than the other huffed in displeasure. The frown never once faltering on his face.“Pardon?” Suit sti
