CHAPTER 20
We are having a tea break at the school Cafe after the morning class.  Bruna looks so excited and I don't know why. It must be Josh probably. "Why are you so excited?" I ask her as she scrolls through her phone. Bruna winks. "You'll see..." Wait, that's not her phone.  It's Troy's phone. "Isn't that Troy's phone?" She nods, glancing at me then back to the phone. Something is suspicious. In a blink of an eye, I see everyone at the Cafe glued to their phone. Some laugh. So

CHAPTER 21
I don't know how I amassed the strength to get home last night. I even silently cried on the bus, making the old woman seated next to me ask me if there was anything wrong. I told her no. But I lied. Everything was wrong. What Trent had done was wrong. Accusing me of stealing a necklace was wrong. I have never been so humiliated before in my life. I have made a lot of mistakes and done a lot of wrongs but stealing? Me? Becca? Thief? I'll never forgive Trent for this. I will never forgive him. I cried myself to sleep last night. I didn't even have supper. I just tossed the bag on the couch, shambled to my little bedroom and plonked on the bed and broke down tremendously, drenching my pillow in tears. I had started to like Trent. But what he did to me last night. The words he said to me. How he looked at me with so much rage and anger. He believed that I would steal!

CHAPTER 22
"Message? From Jesse Linkard?" I wonder what it is. "Yeah... He begged you to attend his house party tonight!" I digest what Josh has just said. Did he just say a house party? At Jesse's? Well, history has a way of repeating itself within a short amount of time. I go to Jesse's mansion. Bruna and Josh immediately dump me. I sit with Jesse. Trent joins us. He kisses me to chase some girl. I drink a lot and end up getting wasted. And guess who wakes up to shower in my bath the next day? Trent! But this time, I won't let it repeat. "No!" I say adamantly. Josh grins. "Baby, Jesse doesn't beg! Ever! But he's begging for you... That's how much he likes you..."

CHAPTER 23
Compared to the previous party, this one has fewer people and a bit toned down music. I see a couple of familiar faces as we enter the mansion. Young lads are swaying from corner to corner, drinks clutched up in their hands. There are no neon lights tonight. It's just a silent house party. I bet it's for close friends only. What Josh had said earlier is true. Jesse's eyes tend to light up when he sees me and he rushes to hold my hand and lead me to sit beside him. "Thank you Sugar," he pecks my hand as we sit. "Thanks for coming. You look like a goddess! You're so fucking precious and so fucking beautiful. " I blush and smile.  "Don't let her smile fool you," Josh

CHAPTER 24
The weekend rushed by so fast and Monday is here already.  Troy and I arrive for the class early and find other students seated and studying. I'm surprised to see Danna sitting at her desk silently. She's rarely early for any class. She gets on time for classes but not earlier than usual. She's leaning her hands on the desk, her focus on books. This is strange. Really strange. "What's up with that snake today? I'm surprised she wasn't expelled," Bruna says as she pulls a chair. I'm surprised she was not expelled too. But she looks sad and there's just something strange with the way she's acting. After the class, I'm quick to follow Danna behind. Thank God she doesn't have her girl gang. They must have ditched h

CHAPTER 25
Trent and I can get along after all. We ate the delicious meal he had cooked as we watched a movie. You won't believe what movie he selected. Me before you... He says he has watched it a thousand times and it gets to him every time. I didn't expect he loved romantics. He looks like an action movie type but he proved me wrong. After that dinner, I catch a bus back home after I say no to Trent's free drive. I'm glad that he's making my work easier now. I just hope it stays that way. Strolling home, I remember I had a dinner date with Nate. Shit! I had already forgotten about it. I see the lights to his house are still on, so he's not asleep yet. I knock on the door. It takes some seconds for him to open.

CHAPTER 26
What! Why does Grammy have to embarrass me in front of my boss? I look at Trent and see him smiling at Grammy. Why is he smiling at her? I'm sure she just said that because Trent is not white. Told you she's racist. She keeps insisting how white men are not for coloured women like us. Bla. Bla. Bla. "Grammy, this is my boss, Trent." I introduce her feeling a little bit embarrassed. "Trent, my grandma..." Grammy grins at Trent and winks. "Call me Grammy boy..." then she pauses. "How is a young man like you my baby's boss?" Trent is looking down at her since Grammy is short. "Because I'm rich." Grammy laughs and I don't find that funny. I shuffle for keys in

CHAPTER 27
I bolt out of the house, my heart pounding.  Trent is not okay. I don't say a word to Grammy coz Trent's life is in danger, and there's no time for stories. He's stranded in a gas station and he's given me the direction already. I find a motorbike just outside Nate's door. I don't care to borrow it and thank God I learnt how to ride a bike. Dax taught me. I speed off without thinking twice and I hear Grammy call my name but I can't look back. Trent is stranded right now and he needs my help. I get to the gas station within twenty minutes. I stop the bike and leap. I don't see Trent anywhere. It's just an old man standing stiff, smoking a cigarette. "Are you Becca?"

CHAPTER 28
I'm taken aback by what he says. What is that supposed to mean? "If he sees that I have this bandage, he will dig deep until he finds out that... That it's you I drove home last night. Then he'll assume that I have feelings for you..." "Trent!" His dad bangs the door this time. We can hear the faint voice in the room. "So, what will we do?" "I should hide in my room, then you'll go open the door for him. Tell him I'm not in..." I'm in silence, confused. "Stop thinking! Go!" I run

CHAPTER 29
The park covers a wide area that could fill a mansion or two. It's quite hilly with a tall tree or two near one hill. There are benches for people to sit in although they are all empty. Except for an old couple that's sitting on one bench enjoying the view. Flower hedges and bushes grew all around making the bush look more attractive. Trent and I sit beside the small river, flowing gently. It amuses me that the water is so clean that you can see the pebbles underneath. I open the dish full of ice cream and scoop some. Damn! This ice cream is so sweet. I can't get enough of it. "Thank you..." Trent says out of nowhere. "Thank you for what?" He smiles. "for e
